What areas can be treated?

Virtually any part of the body with sun or age spots or freckles can be safely treated. The face, chest, shoulders and arms are the most popular areas for treatment because they typically have the most sun exposure. Both discrete spots and skin densely covered with freckles respond well to treatment.

What do the treatments feel like?

When the handpiece is placed on your skin, it will feel cool and comfortable. When the pulse of light is delivered, you may feel a mild, brief pinching sensation. Unlike other systems, the IPL treatments require no topical anesthetic or gels before treatment.

How many treatments will I need?

Typically 1 to 3 treatments are sufficient to see dramatic results. Additional treatments may be required for very large or dark spots or for densely covered areas. For more dramatic results, you might consider our Pearl™ laser skin rejuvenation treatments.

What happens after the treatment? Are there any side effects?

Immediately following the treatment, the spots may start to darken. You may notice a slight reddening of the surrounding skin. This typically subsides within a couple of hours. Over the course of the next 1 to 3 weeks, darkened spots will fade and flake off.

Will the spots reappear over time?

If you do not look after your skin with an appropriate skin care routine after your treatment, the spots may reappear. Ensure you apply sunscreen with at least an SPF 30 to minimize the likelihood of them coming back and to keep new spots from appearing.
