BOTOX COSMETIC®

Certain wrinkles emerge after repeated contractions of the delicate underlying facial muscles over time. This happens gradually every time you smile, laugh or frown. While you may have earned every one of those smile lines, you don't have to show them anymore. Spa Lumina offers BOTOX COSMETIC® treatments in Barrie, Ontario, to smooth away facial wrinkles.

Our clients visit us for BOTOX wrinkle treatments from Collingwood, Orillia, Newmarket, and other Central Ontario communities. To learn more about our treatment sessions, request your free consultation online or give us a call at (705) 721-7775.

Botox Before and After

How does BOTOX work?

BOTOX blocks impulses from the nerve to the tiny facial muscles that are related to expression lines. BOTOX relaxes the muscles so they do not contract. The contraction of the muscle is the culprit causing the wrinkles. After treatment, the overlying skin remains smooth and unwrinkled while the untreated facial muscles contract in a normal fashion, allowing normal facial expression to be unaffected.

How is BOTOX different from Dysport®?

Both BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport use the same active ingredients to reduce muscle activity and smooth wrinkles, but they’re distinctly different products. Most of their differences are related to their consistencies. Dysport is thinner and tends to “spread” more. Our providers prefer BOTOX because it’s better at staying where it’s administered. This typically creates more predictable results.

What are the benefits of BOTOX treatments?

BOTOX injections are effective for smoothing away wrinkles to help you look naturally refreshed and rejuvenated. Common areas of treatment include:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Vertical brow lines
  • Creases at the outer aspects of the eyes (crow’s feet)

When BOTOX and JUVÉDERM treatments are performed together, we call this more complete facial rejuvenation procedure a Soft Lift®.

Are BOTOX treatments safe?

BOTOX injections have been used safely and effectively since the 1980’s and have been clinically proven to be safe in over 99.9% of all cases. Each year, thousands of clients receive BOTOX treatments for a variety of conditions including excessive sweating, and it is quickly becoming a popular treatment to reverse the visible signs of aging.

What are BOTOX treatments like?

Using the smallest needle available, our doctors will gently inject a very small amount of BOTOX, precisely into several locations on the face. There is very little pain (most people say it feels like a bug bite). No anesthesia is required, and you can resume normal activities immediately. Some clients experience a slight temporary bruising at the injection site which can easily be covered with make-up.

Be sure to join the Brilliant Distinctions™ loyalty program to earn savings on future BOTOX and JUVÉDERM treatments.

What can I expect after treatment?

You will NOT be allowed to rub the injection site, do any strenuous physical activity, or lie for four hours after, as it can result in the BOTOX spreading to unwanted areas and causing undesirable (but temporary) drooping. After 4 hours, there are no restrictions at all.

When will I see results?

Muscles treated with BOTOX usually start to relax within a few days, and reach maximum relaxation within 2 weeks.

How long do BOTOX results last?

About 3 to 4 months after the first treatment, the wrinkles gradually return. Since the majority of clients are happy with the results of their therapy, they return for another treatment when they notice the effects beginning to wear off. If you have a second treatment before the treated muscles have returned to their old bad habits, your second treatment will usually last longer. If you continue to come in for treatments, you will generally find that the effects last longer after each one.
