What causes fullness under the chin?

Fullness under the chin, sometimes referred to as "double chin," is a common, yet undertreated, facial aesthetic concern that can impact both women and men. Cause may include:

  • Aging
  • Genetics
  • Weight changes
Sometimes, no matter how much you diet or exercise, the fullness in this area may not go away, and can make you feel like you look older and heavier than you actually are.

How does BELKYRA work?

The active ingredient in BELKYRA is deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. BELKYRA targets and breaks down fat cells when injected into the area under your chin. As treated fat cells are naturally flushed away, your chin profile gradually improves over 2 to 4 weeks. Benefits of BELKYRA include: gradually improves your chin profile over a number of treatment sessions customized by our Doctor.

  • It is a quick and easy injectable office treatment that can be completed in 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Treatments are customized to help you achieve your cosmetic goals.
  • Once your goals are achieved, additional treatments are usually not needed.

How many treatments will I need?

Many clients achieve their desired results with 2 to 4 treatments; some may require up to 6 treatments.

Is there any downtime?

For most clients, downtime is minimal and occurs most commonly after the first treatment session.

Will I experience any side effects?

As with other injectable treatments, you may experience side effects with BELKYRA. The most common side effects are swelling, bruising, pain and numbness. In clinical trials, the incidence and severity of most side effects was generally mild to moderate and decreased with subsequent BELKYRA treatments.

Prior to administering BELKYRA, our Doctor may apply ice/cold packs or topical anesthesia to the treatment area to make you more comfortable. He or she may also suggest you take an over the counter pain reliever before your appointment. After treatment, apply ice or a cold pack to the treatment area for 10 to 15 minutes as needed.
