Background information
As we age, our skin loses elasticity, fine lines and wrinkles become more prominent and the firmness of our skin fades away. Research has shown that the main reason for this is that the quantity of hyaluronic acid in the dermis decreases with age. As a result, the skin dries out and becomes fragile, and the first wrinkles appear. The tissues progressively sag and the face becomes hollow.
Newer generations of fillers have been specially designed to treat areas that require a boost of volume (cheeks, chin, under eyes). These fillers are all based on hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in our bodies, and is a building block for collagen. By replacing lost volume, the skin can be rejuvenated, and result in a younger, healthier appearance.
At Spa Lumina, only Dr, Gandhi will inject you with fillers. Dr. Gandhi is trained in the use of a wide variety of fillers. All of them are based on hyaluronic acid, and are therefore safe for use in all people, without the need for skin testing. These products are highly biocompatible and are slowly absorbed, resulting in longer lasting effects than the older fillers. Fillers can be injected into the entire face, neckline, neck and hands.
